Jessica Walter has passed away at the age of 80, after an acting career that spanned six decades. Initial reports indicate that she died at her home, in her sleep. Tributes are pouring in for Walter, who will be most remembered for her portrayal of Lucille Bluth on Arrested Development. One of the most touching tributes is from her daughter, Brooke Bowman:

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica. A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off. While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”

Though most will recognize her for role on Arrested Development, she won her Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1975 for her role in Amy Prentis. The show told the story of a woman becoming the new detective chief in San Francisco. It was a spinoff of Ironside, and starred Helen Hunt as Walter’s daughter.

Her career, which spanned six decades, all began on the television series, Love of Life, in 1951. She went on to star in movies as well, with her first being Lilith in 1964.

Henry Winkler was one of the celebrities to pay tribute: “OH NO …We worked together for years on ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT ..It was an honor to watch her comedy explode from the very first row.”

Tony Hale, who played Jessica’s son on Arrested Development, also made a statement: “She was a force, and her talent and timing were unmatched. Rest In Peace, Mama Bluth.”

Rest in peace, Jessica. You will be missed!
