Only a few days after Alec Baldwin accidentally killed the cinematographer on the set of the movie Rust, he and his wife, Hilaria, pose with their six children from a Halloween photo of the family. Hilaria Baldwin captioned the family photo with “Parenting through this has been intense,” which was in reference to how her husband accidentally used a prop gun to kill the movie professional.

Critics on social media lashed out at Hilaria for posting the caption. Instead of showing complete remorse for the terrible tragedy that occurred in the movie set in the American Southwest, Hilaria focused on how hard the situation has been for her and her family. Many people branded her social media post “inappropriate and tasteless” and pointed out how the nine-year-old son of victim Halyna Hutchin would face his first Halloween without his beloved mother.

“Parenting through this has been an intense experience, to say the least,” Hilaria, 37, wrote on Instagram Sunday. “Today, we rallied to give them a holiday. Last min costumes…a little hodge-podge…but they were so happy, and that warmed my mama heart.”

Baldwin’s family has been thrust into the spotlight after he accidentally killed Hutchins on the movie set for Rust on October 21, 2021. The family photo came shortly after it was revealed that there had been at least three other gun discharges on the movie set before the gunfire killed the cinematographer.

The Halloween photo featured Baldwin dressed as a creature from the favorite children’s story Where the Wild Things Are. Meanwhile, Hilaria was dressed in a spider witch costume that matched daughters Carmen, 8, and Maria Lucia Victoria, eight months. Baby Maria and her older brother, Eduardo, 1, were dressed in workout clothing for the holiday. The older boys, Rafael, 6, Leonardo, 5, and Romeo, 3, were also dressed in costume for the photo.

Twitter blew up with furious responses from fans who were shocked by Hilaria’s social media post.

“Alec Baldwin, did your wife actually post Halloween photos on Instagram!! So inappropriate and so not a good look!” wrote one person.

Another added, “The Baldwin kids should absolutely enjoy Halloween. This year, though, Hilaria Baldwin should have kept their festivities (and herself) off social media. Halyna’s son didn’t get to enjoy this holiday. Celebrate without posting, Hillary. It’s literally the least you could do.”

Although the critics were loud in their fury, the Baldwins also had their fair share of supporters.

“Lord!!! I cannot even imagine the chaos! But you two are doing a good job. Giving them a great childhood,” wrote actor Leslie Jordan.

“Oh, I love everything about this!!!!” said journalist Joelle Garguilo.

Professional chef David Burtka urged the Baldwins to “Stay strong….”

“Sending you big hugs. They are so lucky to have you,” wrote another supporter.

Reports indicate that the movie set of Rust was a very dangerous place. Baldwin’s stunt double allegedly fired the prop gun after he was told it was “cold.” A person working for the props department “actually shot herself in the foot” with a blank round.
