Brides come in all shapes and sizes. Some are young. Some are old. Some are large. Some are thin. But one bride decided that she wanted to force her guests to wear outfits based on their weight. In a Reddit post earlier this year, the bride demanded that guests match their weight to the dress code so she could feel good about how all the guests looked at her special day.
As you can imagine, when this bride decided to segregate her wedding guests by how much they weigh, it sparked a lot of outrage. People don’t like thinking about their weight, and because this bride decided she would dress people in certain outfits if they were fat and others if they were skinny, it would easy to tell which women weighed over 160 pounds and which men were over 200 pounds.
The post that sparked the controversy was the following.
“Hey everyone! Who’s ready for Hawaii 2019? In anticipation of the wedding, and believe me, I know it’s a long way away, but. . .
“I would still like to announce the dress code. I am giving you a long notice of a year and a half so that you will have time to find and pick out something nice. The dress code is very specific because it will be used to create an incredible visual effect. If done right, it will make our synchronized dancing along the (beach in Hawaii) really pop. So, without further ado.”
This is the part of the offensive post when the bride demands skinny women wear one thing, and fat women wear something different.
For women who weigh between 100 and 160 pounds, the bride expected them to purchase a green velvet sweater, orange suede pants, and “Louboutin heels (the famous RED heeled shoes. When we spin and lift our feet, the effect will amaze you).” The bride also wanted the women of this size to buy a Burberry scarf.
Next, the bride outlined what she wanted average-sized men to wear.
This included a “PURPLE Fuzzy Jacket-Soda Hat,” “All White Trainers,” and “Plain Glow Sticks.”
As for the “fat” women at the wedding, which the bride considered to be more than 160 pounds, she demanded they simply blend into the background with “all black sweater and pants.” This outfit can be “any material.” They must also wear black heels.
“Fat” men over 200 pounds, whom the bride figures must also not care about their appearance, also should blend in the background wearing “all camouflage.” They also are supposed to have “black sneakers.”
Children must wear “RED from head to toe. Remember the kids will form the shape of a heart, it needs to be a true red, not blood orange or some bull****!”
The bride then demanded that guests pay at least $1,000 for their outfits. “Please, if you look like trash, so will we. All jokes aside, we want you to invest in an outfit valued at least $1,000. This includes jewelry [sic] accessories, makeup, and hair. Remember ladies and gents, this wedding is 24k themed for a reason. You have a year and a half to get working. No excuses! Mwah.”
What do you make of this bride’s requests?
