Cats love to squeeze themselves into hideaway places. Whether they find a great spot to hide on top of the fridge or sneak their way into an open cabinet, another favorite hiding spot for cats is underneath the bed or couch. That’s why one bed maker has created a new bed frame that transforms into a maze that cats absolutely love – check out what they’ve come up with for housecats now!
According to one cat expert, these animals love darker and more confined spaces. “Cats like to position themselves so they can see out of the opening,” says Marilyn Krieger, certified cat behaviorist, and owner of The Cat Coach and Urban Edge Wildlife. “They feel safe and hidden from potential threats, while at the same time they can see possible predators and other threats. Their heads are facing out, so it can be easier for them to fight if they need to.”
Clearly, cats love going under their owners’ beds. This hiding spot gives cats everything they crave in a place to hang out. Going under the bed is a safer place for cats to spend their time than somewhere high, like on top of the fridge. Although cats are usually pretty agile and able to get around without being injured, there’s still a chance that cats seeking refuge at such a high height could experience something negative along the way.
There’s a new bed on the market that promises to be a happy place for cats and kittens. It is called the Gatrimonial bed and is created by the Colombian brand CatLife. The bed frame is designed to be a safe haven for cats and to give them a place to play and explore that is safe and fun for them.
From the exterior, the bedframe appears like any other. However, it features a hole that cats can use to crawl inside and navigate the maze-like interior of the bedframe.
If you use the underside of your bed for storage, this bedframe might not work for you. However, if you are a dedicated cat owner, then it might make sense to purchase this bed to give your cat some more fun during its daily life. Storage could be found somewhere else so long as you have an apartment or home with that available.
The creators of the cat-friendly bedframe were delighted to talk about it to Bored Panda. They said the following: “With our bed, our cat clients don’t feel invaded in their territory, nor do they have to run looking for a safe space to hide. Under this bed, they find a quiet place, full of calm and security, and best of all, it still has the same functionality for the owner! You will continue to rest as you normally would, but now, you provide a unique den to your cat.”
