Amber McCann, a 30-year-old woman from Florida, found herself in trouble with the law after attempting to shoplift over $1,000 worth of merchandise from a Walmart store in Palm Coast. The incident, which occurred on Monday, March 25, took a bizarre turn when McCann told police that she considered her actions as part of a ‘game’ and found it ‘really fun.’

According to reports, McCann was apprehended by police as she attempted to leave the store with a cart filled with stolen items. Bodycam footage released by The Flager County Sheriff’s Office captured the interaction between McCann and the officers. In the footage, one officer can be heard informing McCann that they were conducting an investigation into the theft.

McCann, displaying a nonchalant attitude, admitted to being the culprit behind the theft when asked by the officer. She went on to explain that she was participating in a game known as ’21,’ which involves grabbing as much merchandise as possible and leaving the store without paying, all while trying to avoid getting caught.

However, the officer quickly rebuked McCann’s explanation, reminding her that her actions constituted theft and were not a game. Despite this, McCann appeared unfazed, even laughing as she asked the officer if she would be going to jail.

In Florida, shoplifting can carry serious consequences depending on the value of the stolen goods. For amounts ranging from $100 to $300, it can result in a first-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 1 year in jail and a $1,000 fine. For larger amounts, the penalties increase significantly, with shoplifting over $20,000 classified as a second-degree felony, carrying a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Initially, McCann claimed that she had placed the stolen items in a random car and left upon spotting police in the area. However, she later admitted that the car belonged to her boyfriend, although she insisted that he was unaware of her illegal activities.

Upon searching McCann’s boyfriend’s vehicle, authorities discovered not only the stolen merchandise but also illegal drugs, including marijuana, hashish, methamphetamine, and alprazolam. Additionally, inside a locked safe in the car, deputies found various precious metal bars.

As a result of her actions, McCann now faces a slew of charges, including grand theft, possession of marijuana, hashish, alprazolam, drug paraphernalia, and trafficking in methamphetamine.

The incident serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of engaging in criminal behavior and the importance of respecting the law. McCann’s cavalier attitude towards theft highlights the need for greater awareness and accountability in society, as well as the potential dangers of substance abuse and illegal drug trafficking.
